Utensil Holder

 Happy Happy Friday Ya'll!

The other day I altered a paint brush with the new Peacock Wax from Finnabair.
That brush was Posted in the FB group ⇛⇛⇛⇛ My Rusty Crown FB Page. Come Join us and share your blogs, your process videos anything craft related! we would love to have you!

I needed something to put my mermaid watercolor brushes in. So in all my mixed media fashion I took this old plant pot and jazzed it up!

I took Black gesso and gave it a good coat inside and out! Heat set it and off to step 2

Now here are some new resin pieces I poured with the NEW Finnabair Moulds
I used Gel medium to secure them down.

I let this sit for about 2 hours, I then took my black gesso again and gave it a coat!

Now I took the NEW Finnabair wax (Indian Pink) using a stippling brush and coated the whole thing.

Now I took the yellow from the rust effect pastes and dry brushed all the resin pieces.

Then Stenciled on some rust paste with a sponge. watered down the yellow rust and splattered some also! That is it! super easy project! Links Below for products!

"Change" Journal Layout

Have you seen the Tattered Angel Color wash paints and wondered what in the world you can do with them?
  • 2 ounces of sheer paint that adds a tint of color to craft and DIY surfaces
  • Water Based Multi-Surface Formula
  • Choice in application - Easy to apply with brush or use mist applicator
  • Apply with a brush for amazing results
  • Works with all acrylic, chalk, milk and specialty paints to achieve personalized results
  • Use multiple Color Wash colors to create unique finishes
  • Works on “hard to cover” surfaces – rustic wood, wicker, Styrofoam, layered items, lace and more.
  • Paints can be mixed to achieve custom colors
  • Paint can be diluted with water to lighten the color
Surface maintains its original texture allowing you to easily apply stamps, stencils, rub-ons, paint, etc.

Okay now that you know just a bit more about them let me show you what I did, and what mediums worked great with them!

So I started my pages of with tissue paper by dina wakley, I added these with a brush and gel medium.
I then kinda just haphazardly brushed the pages with clear gesso. So I pulled out my Tattered Angels Color wash paints, they remind me of a liquid water color really! I just took the caps off lined them up on my desk and started dabbing colors on with a paint brush, you can add these to water brushes as well!.

Now I spritzed with water and tilted my journal all around! they flowed like a dream! Now the next "Layer" for me journal pages are made in layeres. Stamping MRC has some fantastic background stamps! Ill link them below.

Here I did a before and after picture of the Nuvo Expanding Mousse, I added it through a stencil, then used my heat gun.

its pretty cool mousse, not really a paste, a bit thicker. it gave great depth after expanding though. kinda subtle. I like it!

So more layeres are added here. I stenciled with the color wash, and added more color to the edges.

I used acrylic paint for scribbling, added more stamping, and used a micro pen over the color wash. I didnt have any problems with any of the mediums working over the paints!
a bit of black ink for the edges and some splashes.

the last touch is just adding some stamped images to paper and cutting them out and gluing them on! Hope this gives you some inspiration and insight! XOXO

Studio Light Tags

     Winter Feelings Tags

I made two Studio Light Tags with the Winter Feelings Die cut Block, These Blocks come with so many Pieces! We are getting a big Snow Storm so these Tags are perfect for this weekend!

These are pretty easy to assemble! no fussy cutting just punching them out and go! First I coated gave it a layer Distress Crackle paint in (Picket Fence)
I tried some sprays but Its wasnt the colors I was looking for .

Here I just took Brown acrylic paint, watered it down and did a light watery layer over the crackle so those cracks shine through.

Some Background stamping. Ill link the stamps used below. I took my die cuts and some pieces I ripped, some I weathered with scissors. then I edged them all with brown ink.

the process of adding all the layeres.

White splatteres with acrylic paint and some ribbon and done! These are just so easy to through together!

Queen Bee Crown

Happy New Year! We are back up and ready to post some New Years Inspiration for you!

How about another Crown? We are kinda fond of crowns here! So Straighten yours up and lets get ready for some Inspiration!

➴➷➵➳➷➸➵➴➳

I found this Wooden crown at my local store, of course you can use anything you want to jazz up!
First thing I do is cover the entire thing with White gesso. I just want to make sure whatever is left showing is white.

I used Dina Wakely Collage paper and put it down with some simple gel medium. I did both sides, then cut the leftover bits off. ( i glues those leftover bits in my art journal for future use).

Can you see the shine on this Icing paste made by Finnabair? Its gorgeous!
I used a Stamperia stencil and put on a thin layer of the paste.

After that dried I added a resin I made from a stamperia mould. It was a heart with gears. I snapped it in half and used that as my first layer of embellishments. I glue everything down with gel medium!

I used some flowers, art stones and metals, After my layers are on and dry I give the whole thing a layer of Clear Gesso, I want my flowers to stay red.

Adding color is always my Favorite part! just remember it always looks worse before the end results.
I started with Black and added it to all my art stones and in between the flower petals, That will help add some depth and dimension. I dry each color in between layers. Just some small amounts of red and spritz with water to get it all flowing.

To finish it off, I took an old paint brush and white gesso, I did the dry brush metho,  small amounts of gesso on your brush and dabbing most off, you lightly go over all your embellishments. I also took more icing paste and rubbed it on  with my finger. and some white splashes with watered down gesso. I added a little word with a Stampotique stamp and Edge the whole Thing with Archival Ink.We are gonna call her done!

Moon Child Layout!

A day later then Normal, but Its here! A step by step of a sweet little Layout using the new Prima Moon Child Collection!

This is gonna show tons of steps! Ready? LOL
I have the Moon Child Paper Pad in A4 size, SO what I did was took 2 papers and ripped them , Now I can piece them together to look like  12x12.

I adhered them down to a 12x12 piece of cardboard gave it all a clear coat of gesso and did some stamping in dark blue with Archival Ink. I used some Amazing Stamps from the store! I'll link them down below!

Bits and pieces from the collection I might use, the chip board bubbles are the new Pop ems Martina has in the shop as well, I used finnabair art pebbles and glues them down to the MC Ephemera pack to make my own embellishments.

Close up of Stamping

Here I used the new Rainbow Pentart paste for the stars! they are gorgeous!

I also took the New Finnabair Icing paste and Mixed the Fire ruby color with the Amethyst to make a dark burgundy shade to better match my LO! these are so shimmery and creamy a must have!

view of what done so far!

So now I'm playing with my Lindy's stamp gang sprays. spritzing water then my colors

Doing a layout is a lot of figuring out your layers and design. I cut out some flowers and more from the Ephemera pack to use as embellishments as well

Here I start Gluing! I used Sd Gel Medium to adhere everything

I also used some Resin pieces I made from the Stamperia Moulds also in the shop.

Those little galaxy flowers are adorable!

After all is in place I did some dry brushing to the flowers resin and embellishments to bring it all together and make everything flow.

I colored the moon blue with Lindy's sprays and also some dry brushing to bring out the detail!

Splash the page with white acrylic paint for my finishing touches! Splashing always makes me feel like it's complete!

Hope you all like it! XOXO Nicole!
